EVENT ATTRACTIONS OF KRYNICA

Aerial tram

Aerial tram to Jaworzyna Krynicka is the most modern and longest railway of this type in Poland. It can transport within hour in winter season 1400 persons. Personal underway boxes assure convenient and safe riding.

Route of aerial tram has 2211 m length and goes from Czarny Potok to the top of Jaworzyna Krynicka (1114 m above sea level). After about 7 minutes, you are able to admire fine Beskidas landscape from viewing platforms. Your close contact with nature supplies many memorable impressions.

Lots of paths and touristic routes invite on walks and tramps, also the attractive rout waits for amateurs of mountain bikes. Because of aerial tram Krynica will become one of modern and greatest in Poland winter resort: downhill skiing, skii race and snowboard. The snow cover keeps steady here at least for 5 months in the year. At Jaworzyna slopes are ready 3 routs length about 4 kms, in this the longissimus rout of the length 2, 5 kms, running from the Upper Station to The Converter Station in Czarny Potok. There are plans also to lay-out 8 downhill routs the length about 13 kms.

Cable railway

Cable railway to Góra Parkowa has been built in 1937 in Krynica. Bottom station is placed beside Krynica promenade. Last station is located on the top of Góra Parkowa ( 732 above sea level). Total length of route in straight line amount to 642 m, total difference of horizons is about 148 m.

The Krynica cable railway is built with the same rules what cable railway to Gubałówka. It has only smaller wagons, each one is adapted for 50 persons places, it can transport 500 persons within hour. Total riding takes about 2,5 minutes. Decreases on route goes from 19 for 26%.

Cable railway has been reopened on 1st June 1946. There is café with beautiful terraces on overhead station. There is also coast near the cable station which end is located next to bottom station.

Mineral waters

This land is known from natural, mineral water resources, famous mineral-springs like: Zdrój Główny, Słotwinka, Jan, Józef, Mieczyslaw, Tadeusz, Zuber. There are 23 mineral-springs: 5 natural springs and 18 (bore-holes) made by humans. Krynica's mineral waters are commonly used at water cure and health treatment of many kinds of sicknesses like: alimentary system diseases, hiperacidity and hypoacidity, gastric ulcers, pancreatopathy, gall bladder's and liver's diseases. Besides, they are applicable at treatment of anemia and diseases of blood vascular system also hyperthyroidism, and urolithiasis. Natural mineral water resources of Krynica are used to prepare special health baths. Krynica is in possession of unique dry baths which consist of carobonic anhydride. These kinds of baths are used to cure patients with sickness of hearts and blood circulation disturbances.

Climate

The bearings of the Krynica on south, sunny slopes creates the specific microclimate being characterized with considerable temperature differences between the day and night, with the quantity of solar days and keeping for the long time of the snow cover (from the half of November to the end of March). These circumstances give the excellent possibility to tilling of the qualified tourism, as well as of Alpine skiing and classical in the winter term.

Average temperatures in the period when pedestrian tramps in mountains are most useful are stable and amount about 21°degrees Celsius in May, to a maximum 25°degrees Celsius in July. Day's oscillations of the temperature in Krynica do not cross 8°degrees Celsius. In consideration of the peck of the ozone in mid air the number of sunny days from Mayan to September is here considerably greater than in other regions of Beskid Sądecki and Kotlina Sądecka. Most of all rainy days are noticed in Krynica in June, least in September.
